December Daily: 3rd

Each year, the Sisters affiliated with the health system where Craig works host a display of nativity scenes, which are on loan from the Sisters, community members, and artists. This year, there were almost 140 scenes, ranging from those made by school children to works of art, representing 40 countries.

Zach was really interested in the nativity scenes and wanted Craig to read the descriptions from the program. He made it through 100 of them before his interest started to wane. Evan, on the other hand, promptly announced that the nativity scenes were "boring" after the fifth one, and spent the rest of the time plotting ways to escape, especially when the delicious smell of lunch wafted into the display areas from the Mother House's dining room. In his defense, it wasn't the perfect child-friendly activity and lunch did smell really good. Thank goodness punch and cookies were served on the way out.

When we asked about their favorite scenes, Zach picked a nativity scene depicted in Christmas ornaments hung on a large tree branch, while Evan picked the cookies...at least he's honest.

On the way home, we tuned the radio to Christmas music. The boys belted out "Santa Claus if Comin' to Town" with the Jackson 5 and sang along to the 12 Days of Christmas. So sweet!
