December Daily: 10th {Saturday Scene}

Whew! We had a busy day. We started off with some errands and Zach's indoor soccer game. From soccer, we went to the State Museum with friends for Super Saturday. The museum has a lower level full of fun stuff for kids: a "dig" area to hunt for artifacts and dinosaur bones, insect and rock/mineral specimens to examine under a microscope, and some replica skeletons to examine.

Evan's favorite part was using the microscope to examine the insects and rocks.

They also had crafts for the kids. The boys got to pick out a stencil, place it on paper, then spray it with liquid paint. They loved it! Evan would have made several had there not been a line.

Zach was really pleased with his artwork, and couldn't wait to show it to Daddy. He hung it in his room, while Evan's is hanging in the boys' mini-art gallery.

Zach and Evan spent quite a bit of time playing in the dig area. It was a great activity to burn some energy on a chilly day.

We headed upstairs on our way out, and watched a short movie the earth, climate cycles, and climate change. Two of the subjects covered were volcanoes and earth quakes, which grabbed Zach's attention. He's been asking a million questions about volcanoes since Saturday, and my knowledge of the subject has been exhausted. We're planning to spend some time on the internet this week learning more, and I hope he'll check out a book on the subject from the library this week.

When we got home from the museum, Craig was napping, and we discovered Wally had been up to some mischief. He started the day here:

...and did this while we were gone:

We found tasty mint chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven when we returned home! The boys were so surprised and thrilled to have warm cookies and milk.

We wrapped up the day with Mass and dinner at our friends' house. The boys were already tired from the activities of the day, and they wore themselves out playing with their friends.
