Hasta la Vista, Summer

We spent the last official weekend of summer doing fun summer things. We visited the zoo on Friday with some friends and had a great time, but unfortunately I forgot the camera! The boys got to feed the giraffes -- definitely the highlight of the day. We saw the dolphin show again, and got to see the polar bear eating lunch.

On Saturday, my sister, Craig, and I visited my Dad and Stepmom at the lake. The boys enjoyed spending time with them, feeding the birds, riding on the golf cart and boat, and swimming. We spent the rest of the weekend taking it easy and playing outside.

Back in May, Zach's daycare class started tomato plants in paper cups, and he was really proud of it when he brought it home. We transplanted it, and Zach's been watering it all summer, watching it grow. The plant survived being knocked over and slightly broken during a storm in July, when the tomatoes were still green.

It was finally time to pick the tomatoes today. Zach wanted me to take a picture of him holding the tomatoes up to his face.
Mmmmmm....all that hard work paid off!

Hey, I want some tomato too!
