Saturday Scene: Chores and Errands

So I mentioned the boys' allowance in my last post, and they spent Saturday morning completing their chores for the week:

They also cleaned up leaves that had collected in the corners of our backyard over the winter. Zach had a great idea to make getting the leaves into the bags: he leaned their small wheel barrow up against the fence, put the paper leaf bag over the end of it to make a little chute for the leaves to slide down.

Zach started the morning in this get up: my bathrobe and a frog hat!

Later in the day, Zach worked on riding his bike without training wheels. All was going well until I -- according to Zach's account of the incident -- dumped Zach off his bike causing him to get a scrape on his his stomach. After that, he wanted Craig's help and not mine. Zach's doing really well, and I think after a couple of more practice sessions, he'll be riding on his own. Evan rode his scooter, which is a huge leap for him. In the past, the only thing he'd ride is a big wheel, but this spring, he's branching out. We're hoping he'll ride a bike with training wheels soon!

After riding bikes, Craig and the boys headed to a sporting goods store to shop for new Cardinals shirts. Evan wants a Yadier Molina shirt, and I'm not sure what Zach wants, maybe Lance Berkman or David Freeze. No luck on the shirts, but they did try on sunglasses:
