It seems like Evan just came home at 10 months old and was taking a bottle. Now he's talking (and talking back!), feeding himself, and has definite opinions on lots of things. Birthdays are a little bittersweet. I'm so thankful Evan is growing and learning, but I'd like to hold onto baby-hood as long as possible....ok, maybe not the diapers.
We started celebrating Evan's birthday on Wednesday, when balloons arrived from Grandma Kathy. Thank you, Grandma!

Our morning started early today because Craig and I both had to work. Evan woke up in a good mood, and Zach reminded him that he'd have birthday cake today, but not for breakfast as Zach requested. Bummer, as Zach would say.
Good morning, its my birthday! After work, we went out for one of Evan's favorite meals, a cheese burger and french fries, followed by cake at home. Since Craig and I are going out of town next week and our families will be here watching the boys, we're not having our typical family birthday party for Evan. While Craig and I are away, our families are going to celebrate Evan's birthday twice -- once while Auntie Kay and Grandpa are here, and once when Grandma Carol and Grandma Kathy are here.
Is it time for cake?!
Making a wish
Eating their adorable doggy cakes
Yummy
Evan's personality comes out more and more each day. He enjoys making jokes and trying to get away with things on the sly. He's become quite the little flirt, and tries to attract attention wherever we go.
Evan, we are so proud of you. You're becoming such a smart and independent little guy. It seems like you're growing up even faster than your brother did, maybe because you're always trying to keep up with him -- or maybe because you might be our last baby. We're so thankful we get to be your parents and share every day with you. We hope your birth mother knows what a bright, energetic, and fun-loving guy you've become, and that she's happy, healthy, and at peace. We love you very much!
